Oh, just wanted to say, by the bye, that I agree with Deron with respect to Sherron shaking off the called plays. It worked, and I grant that his attitude is part of his greatness, but wow was that unsettling to read!
Hey, they're hanging Kirk's jersey Sunday! Right on.
Not to be blasphemous, but is Kirk banner-worthy? He's definitely one of the best KU guards ever, but he never dominated like his classmates Drew and Nick did as upperclassmen. Unlike those guys he was not a 1st-team All-American.

Interesting to see who from last year's team will eventually get a banner -- no 1st-team AAs among them. Mario and Brandon? Sherron's in the running if he can lead us to another Final 4.
Speaking of which... Though I'm well aware of our current team's faults, I'm feeling more and more bullish about our tourney prospects as I watch everyone ahead of us in the rankings stumble. There just aren't any dominant teams this year, it seems. Maybe we can fill that vacuum.
I share you ambivalence w/r/t Kirk, but I always enjoyed his play, so I can't quite complain.
ReplyDeleteMario, for what it's worth, meets the old (apparently now irrelevant) guidelines, since he was the Final Four MOP. The rest of the championship squad seems hazier. Have to see who becomes a star as a pro, I guess . . .
I share your bullish feeling. I won't say FF, but after that OU game Sweet 16 seems within reach for sure. Oh yeah, I said it.

We were picked 4th! And all we have to do is win at 2-12 Texas Tech to secure a share of the title!
