DJ!

Yeah, the Warhawks scored 78; they shot 51%, but come on--21 career-high points for Darnell? 15 steals? (4 by Jackson, including one that set up a great fast break play finished, of course, by DJ). Looked like a good night from where I sat.

There seems to be a lot of negativity in the coverage of these first two games. The AP story last night said that when UMKC trimmed the margin to 67-55 it conjured up memories of ORU. Really? 12 points? (I don't think that line is still in there today, thankfully).

I don't know, should we be winning by 50 points? 60? Twenty suits me fine.

Free throws could be a problem (they seemingly are every year for us), and I am a bit puzzled as to how the 'Roos shot above 50%... I guess I'll chalk it up to the freshmen not having absorbed the defensive schemes.

But if we can get those numbers back to where they were last year or better -- and I expect we will -- then there shall be no stopping us.

Collins out six weeks?! WTF? Self said he was fine last night.

Suddenly I'm not so confident that we're going to beat Arizona.

  3. Yikes.

I didn't see that coming at all.

He returned to the game; everything's fine; now six weeks?!?

That's a long time. I don't like this at all.

At least Chalmers and Robinson have (so far) been scoring, so we have some good options without Sherron. But six weeks?!?

  4. I agree, by the bye, with dgl: although they might not have been stellar performances, I don't think the team deserved adjectives like "ragged" (New York Times) or verbs like "struggled" (ESPN).

Four missed dunks is a pretty ugly stat, but it's not like either game was in doubt . . .
