The Juggernaut
This is it, baby -- the big one.
We've been talking about this matchup since these two teams were ranked 1st and 2nd back in January. Since then, both teams took a bit of a hit, but both have recovered to play their best basketball at the right time.
Especially Memphis. Rose and CDR are playing at an NBA level right now; can our guards rise to the occasion?
This is the first game in a long time in which I think KU could play great and still lose. Memphis is long, athletic and defensively-minded enough to give our players fits.
On the plus side: Just as they're the best team we've faced all year, the reverse is also true. CBS Sportsline's breakdown shows both teams statistically about even, actually giving a slight edge to Kansas.
But this is the way you would script it, isn't it? In yet another parallel to 1988, we're playing an absolute juggernaut in the title game. Let's relish the underdog status once again and make it happen...
We beat OU 83-79. This time, how about: KU, 80-77.

Any Kansas fans in need of closure got it in spades Saturday night."
One of the more heart-wrenching moments of the night came in the final minutes, just before the fans started their traditional Rock Chalk chant. The first chanted the name of Rodrick Stewart . . . Stewart broke down into tears before exiting the floor. He served as a source of inspiration for his team all night, with teammates keeping him involved by giving him words of encouragement during each break in the action. . .
Rodrick Stewart on watching the game hurt and losing control of his emotions late: “They used it as motivation, and every time they came over in the timeout, they would just say ‘Keep your head up’ and stuff like that. But it’s all about the team. I don’t know if my knee really helped motivate us. I hope it did. It looked like it did. Whatever worked. Played with a lot of energy and had a lot of fun out there ... I was over there crying, trying to hold it in the whole time, but I think that set it off a little bit with the fans chanting my name.”
Everybody’s saying ‘How you gonna stop them? How you gonna run with them?’ How you gonna stop us? . . . everybody’s worried about how we’re going to run with them and we ran them.”

My team has won the national Championship!!!

I WIN EITHER WAY!
There's no way this happens again in my lifetime. I've been wondering how these teams would match up all year, and now I get to see it on the biggest stage. More to follow on analysis.

I'm changing my prediction. KU wins 81-75.
I should have announced this at the football stadium.
The only thing that can offset that is if Rush has a career game. As talented as he is, there are times when he is reluctant to take the game over. You don't have to worry about that with Hansbrough. He'll take the game over when the time comes. That's kind of why I lean towards Carolina.
"Whatever he’s doing … I advise him to keep doing it.”
It's always hard picking against Hansbrough, but I've got a feeling that Kansas' whole is just a little bit better than the sum of North Carolina's parts.
The Jayhawks have a tendency to rise up for these kinds of games, and as much as they are praised for their balance, it tends to be Chalmers and Rush that play the biggest in the biggest games.
They don't come any bigger than Kansas vs. North Carolina in the Final Four.
"The tough part was getting here," Arthur said. "Now we can just let the shackles down and go play basketball."
