Xavier Henry's line vs. Hofstra:
27 points
8-12 shooting
5-8 on threes
6-6 at the line
5 rebounds
2 assists
1 steal
1 block
0 turnovers
24 minutes. Good god.
Other numbers I like: 6 assists for Tyshawn, 23 points for Sherron, 4 blocks for Cole, 8 boards for Cole and 7 for Kieff. Also, 20-12 assists-to-TOs for the team.
This could be a juggernaut in the making. No, that's not a typo; I said "juggernaut."
Glad we agree on our terminology.
ReplyDeleteTruly an impressive performance. The announcers mentioned that although he now has the record for a freshman debut, he's nowhere the all-time record debut numbers Wilt put up. Which is, as far as I can tell, the only context in which last night was not just jaw-droppingly cool...
If I had to complain about the rest of the team (and I really don't, but what the hell, right?), I'd focus on Collins. He forced a lot, especially in the first half. If we're up by 15, we don't really need him trying to create off the dribble.
That said, it's exactly his over-eager attitude that makes him as great as he is, so I suppose I'm not quite wishing he'd stop occasionally forcing things.
In fact, I don't want any of this to stop. When do we get Memphis? Tuesday? Can't wait!
Wow. I missed the game, but what a line! That is incredible. I can't wait to see what he does against Memphis. I know we cant expect that kind of a night every night, but wow. I am giddy over what he will do as our leading scorer in terms of opening up opportunities for Collins and Cole. He is the high scoring wing man we needed all last year. I think this team has all the pieces.
ReplyDeleteSherron would benefit from upping his assist numbers this year, now that he's got more shooters to pass to. The NBA doesn't like undersized point guards who aren't passers. He did have 3 assists on Friday, which is not bad, but not so great when you couple it with 2 turnovers.
ReplyDeleteMemphis in St. Louis Tuesday. My parents will be on hand.
Scott, your thoughts?
